Preservation-sensitive roofing

Historic roofing with current material limits clearly defined.

NorthStar Roofing supports historic and character-sensitive roof work with current historic options limited to wood shingles and asphalt shingles.

Historic roof planning

Respect the building before choosing the roof.

Historic roof work is not a generic material swap. The visible roof plane, shingle profile, flashing lines, eaves, drainage, and review requirements all affect the final scope.

NorthStar keeps current historic offerings narrow on purpose: wood shingles and asphalt shingles only. That keeps the public page aligned with what can be discussed as available today.

Current historic material options

Asphalt shingle service

Wood shingles

For properties where a wood shingle roof is the appropriate historic match and the roof assembly can support the required detailing.

Asphalt shingles

For historic or preservation-sensitive roofs where asphalt shingles satisfy the approved roof character, budget, and performance needs.

In progress

Synthetic historic shingles are aspirational.

NorthStar is working toward a synthetic shingle path in collaboration with the local historic authority. This is an in-progress effort, not a current historic offering, and it should be confirmed project by project before it appears in a proposal.

Community fit

Historic credibility stays generic until claims are approved.

Historic roofing work is treated as community-facing roof care: protect the structure, respect the roof character, and coordinate before visible changes are made.

  • Document roof condition before replacement decisions are made.
  • Keep visible rooflines, eaves, flashing, and drainage details central to the scope.
  • Separate current approved material choices from aspirational product development.
  • Coordinate early when a property has preservation review or local design constraints.
